Meet the experienced and friendly doctors and staff who make Orange County Optometric Center a proud provider of vision care products and services in Irvine.

Dr. David T. Wakabayashi

Dr. Wakabayashi received his Bachelor of Science Degree and Optometric Doctorate from the Southern California College of Optometry. He has practiced optometry in Irvine for over 30 years.

Dr. Wakabayashi practices general optometry, but also specializes in challenging contact lens fittings, such as bifocal contact lenses, keratoconus contact lenses, Orthokeratology contact lenses, Corneal Refractive Therapy contact lenses, and many other specialty contact lenses. He also co-manages pre-operational and post-operational LASIK surgery with highly accredited surgery centers.

Dr. Wakabayashi has been an Assistant Professor at the Southern California College of Optometry (SCCO) for over 30 years, teaching contact lenses. He has been involved with a number of clinical research activities with many prominent contact lens manufacturers and pharmaceutical companies, such as Ciba Vision Corporation, Alcon Laboratories, Bausch & Lomb, Conforma Labs, Paragon Vision, and Allergan Pharmaceuticals.

He is very active with optometric professional organizations. He has served as a president of Omega Delta, President of the Asian American Optometric Society, and a past President of the Orange County Optometric Society. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, a member of the California Optometric Association, the American Academy of Optometry, and the Association of Optometric Educators. He is also been a director for the Alumni Association of SCCO for over 10 years.
